Brittany...for people who dont know are not spaniels that have been docked too short. They have been re- classed as pointers & are born with either v. short tails or like mine tailless. Think they come in lemon an white, red an white, black an white and tricolor (maybe wrong on that bit)
I have posted some pictures, in some of these the dogs are wearing COLLARS.!!! Despite what some people think they are [highlight=red:4f9d6e35b8]POINTING[/highlight:4f9d6e35b8] collars, they DO NOT buz, shock, omit aroma therapy spray or any of the things some training collars recon they do. They dont train a dog, they dont correct it. They just tell you where it is on point when you cant see it !!!!
This is real handy..................
When the dog is stationary for more than so long the collar starts to 'beep' The birds soon learn to home in on sound like us people. A bird following on will go up over the dog, an a bird on fist immediately looks in that direction an gets ready for action. When you an yor bird are in the best place you give flush command. How else do you know what the dogs doin behind that bush

I have a pointing collar that beeps when stationary for a few seconds, the time before it beeps can be set to three different modes, very useful when flying the shortwings in heavy cover.

Yep me too, and prob the best gadget i have bought in 20 yrs.
No more worries about my dog in cover and also a page bleep so you can hear where your dog is working even if you cant see it just at the touch of a button!
I use a "Dogtra" system, superb!

I have also been looking at them now as the dog is sometimes difficult to see of find in tall cale or brush.
From about £100 upwards.

Just looking at my system now, it is a Cabelas - Field champion, it's orange and black and has 3 different modes for beeping. Superb bit of kit.

yes recon they are even better than sliced bread!! totaly lost without one. I recon we would have lost 75% of the quarry without the collar. We have a lot of scrub and thick hedges, we send the dog round the other side and wait and listen!! As I said before it only takes a couple of outings for the birds to realise what that bleepin collar means. would love a second preferably from GB as it takes so long to send them back to USA if they go wrong, if any one knows of any sold in this country let me know please, preferably cheaper than the £165 that i think the new ones are!!!!!

The gent I got mine from, has a Tri-colour and it is the ONLY living Brittany Field Trial Champion in the UK.
His name is Jay from the Bestobel Kennels.

The breeders name "Fosscott" appears a lot on her certificate.
Is that what you mean ?
I said she is registered as a Tri-colour, I can't really see it much. To me its two shades of Ginger and white !
Does that count ?
And the pic is in answer to all the critisism I hear and read about about the Brit being too small ! Not much else wud fit in there

Hi NightOwl,
No the dog isn't worked. He was kept for the showring but things didn't work out there. I took him on trial for a month or so but had to give him back. His sister was too much of a distraction for him I think. That plus he had led a sheltered life.
Shame he had to go back, great natured dog. He is just a pet now.
