Hiya,
Our centre is buying the 3yo tiercel, and I'm lucky enough to be allocated his owner (yippie) and get him up and out there again!
From what I've been told about him, he sounds a cracking bird, and I honestly cant wait to see what he's like and he'll no doubt teach me many things. It will be some nice display for awhile, then he'll be doing what he does best - hunting partrige!
Been sorting equipment, just made a new pair of jesses, found a med swivel and done a leash up. My very good friend (thank you!!!) Wally, has kindly agreed to go up and collect him, and bring him down to my house. My other good friend Bilsy (thank you!!!) is paying for the bird, and trying to pursuede Mal to let me fly the falcons in the display (including the kestrel) to let him get on with the harder birds (Vultures, eagles, gos and Jack etc) and Wally will be flying the harris, buzzards and owls.
So, Bilsy agreed to buy me another falcon, already trained for displays for a year, then it's upto me what he does next (hunting)and I'll pay for my gyr/saker.
So tomorrow, you'll see how he settles him, what he's like etc, then in a couple days, I'll post his pics. Depending how he settles in, I'd prefer to get him up and going ASAP, bt if he's not upto that just yet, I'll wait in anticipation!
So, my charges will be -
Gyr/saker male, called Jakey. Great bird, well settled.
Sakret, Bobby. Ok, but vocal. Looks like a lanner lol.
Lugger female. Star - and she is!
Sakret, male. Afra, my saker, but I'll prob just fly him at home.
Kestrel female. Peeps, recovering from an ear infection, but fly's any
distance in a strait line (just wobbly here and there)
Lanner/lugger babies, I'll gona be training a female.
Lanner male, when he finishes moulting. Stunning to watch, top class.
Merlin female. Nicknamed Lady, pretty and laid back (norm for merlins I've heard) She'll be with a mate in 2 years or so, she's still young though.
As a one off, I'm flying me ole mate, Rags, a 2 yo harris that had a brocken wing (just lazy now) but still wants to fly. He's got the biggest feet you've ever seen in a male harris!
Thats me upto date, now I'll say goodnight to Afra and pack me bags for school tomzo, when I come home, El Cid will be waiting!
