i put a young male in with my jade whos 14 a month ago shes bred before. At first she was the boss always at the food first asserting her authority generally pushing him around. now shes become totally submissive letting the male eat first. making an effort to sit next to him. shes also started making a nest. he's totally ignoring her.
But basically shes well up for it!! but i've got very little to no chance of them mating but it if i was to take the male out and put another in if i can get one. are the chances good for breeding
cheers guys

i don't know but is that too young to breed? if not you can try AI, or buy some semen from another breeder.

yeh thought about that. two worries first i dont know anything about AI. the other is can i leave the male in their with her is it safe for the chicks? i was told there was a possibility of them breeding before i put them in together. now i've looked into it a bit more i've found out there isn't a chance n he's not even interested!

either that or let them just bond for this year and by next year you'll hav a male thats a bit more mature.(most men are intimitated by the older female) breeding isn't about wham bham thank you maham

cant fly male not mine. plus it broke its leg late last year and its set longer than the other it will be no good hunting with it. flys with one leg pointing outward slightly. when it lands it lands with 1 leg right out to the left then brings it in. no good flying it to the glove it would be constantly falling off!!!! :D if i can't fly jade next season n i aint gotta bird. i will be mightily p***ed of!

He's too young mate and so is the female really. I would leave them in together to bond until at least next year. If you're getting a pup you will have a nightmare on your hands trying to train it and an eyas HH as well. Why not free loft them as a pair this summer and concentrate on the dog, just fly the female (if pos) next season then put them up again next summer and hopefully get a young bird off them. By this time the dog should have learned the basics and be steady enough to introduce to an eyas.
