my pere/sakers getting a varied diet with vitamins added when doc's are fed so im wondering what could be causing his beak to flake?
on one side of his beak the tominal tooth has completely gone & little bits are flaking off further up the upper mandible-any ideas people?

I got this too from biting his eyelets.

You can stop it by coping it or use some . . . . forgot the name . . . cornea something or the other, it is used to make horses hooves grow and works well.

If nobody comes up with the name I will dig it out?

Only problem is, you have to take your bird to the blacksmiths for coping once a month! lol!!

Cornucrescine does make it grow very fast so use it carefully and yes you will need to do some coping afterewards.

Yes, just wipe it on, I rub and massage it in a bit, so hooding is good, once a day for a week should be fine.

Atomik - It encourages beaks, naila, hair and hooves to grow, therefore actually growing a crack or slit out if you can not cope it out easily.

my lanner had the same problem and it flaked at both sides so i took it to see ma local bird vet and he gave me sum calcuim which i put in his food everyday does the trick. it also has extra vitamins so not need for raptor essentials.
