I started this thread elsewhere but it's disappeared!

Anyway, I have a three year old paraent reared tiercel gos. He calls when hungry but never out hunting. I was told he had been hand reared to 10 days, then reared by an imprint female.

I introduced a three year old female gos recently, around the 20th February. The tiercel is on the trolley (running wire) and the female is put out on a bow perch next to the trolley during the day.

When the tiercel first saw the female he started hunger calling. This was interpreted as a "Mummy! Mummy!" call<g>.

That has now stopped and was replaced by the alarm/annoyance kek, kek, kek, kek, at feeding time, especially if I tease him a bit. He is almost always fed on the fist and is pig fat for the moult but still bates towards me and "catches" the fist.

Today, he changed again. Initially, he was not interested in the fist. Then, he came to the fist after I had dealt with the female but was silent. Then he went back to his perch and I noticed the white coverts under his tail were flared. He then started making indvidual and single "keks".

The female apparently took no notice. (She even refused food). But it did seem to me that her coverts were slightly flared.

I'll report progress. I want to get this pair used to each other before introducing them to adjacent aviaries separated by a screen. (So far, these haven't yet been built!).
