that depends on what you think is the perfect sized crow hawk.

For me its a bird that flys about 1lb 10 - 12 oz, and I have seen a few 50/50 gyr peregrine males that hit this.

Redtail with a hawk eagle of some sort:) Unless there happens to be a redtail-sized, cold-tolerant hawk eagle out there...:) The speed, foot size, beauty and flair of a hawk-eagle with the cold-tolerance and body size of the redtail would be fun. At least hypothetically:-D

i think 2 pound is the perfect size for a crow bird! sure smaller birds can take crows, my 1-2 oz pere prairie used to take them! but they get easily put off after a beating by a mob of angry corvids! true

Not if they are prepaired right they dont, with male falcons its all about attitude, enter them to early (or cheat) and they will chuck crows, enter them when they are ready and its plain sailing all the way.

Everyone that I know of that has trained up a young male falcon that weighs less than 1.14 deosnt understand this, and treats them just like females and the larger males, they dont work the same, and unless the falconer accepts this then they will always fail.

I know of a couple of realy small falcons (1lb3-5oz) that have taken over 100 corvids in there first season, then repeated it in there subsequent seasons.

Its all about preperation, both physicaly and mentaly, and yes they do take slightly longer to get there, but if you put the extra work in then the rewards are there for the taking!

Terc. golden and female ferruge. Bigger faster stronger. Maybe a bit mentally ****y to keep ya on yer toes. Still able to take any hare and still no prob for the occasional fox/misc critter running in the brush. No loss of soaring 4-6 lbs. not too heavy. My dream.

peregrine/barbary better
Excellent, just would lack the agility! In my eyes the Barbary is the perfect purebred falcon, put a twist in it and you get the ultimate game killer!
