:D :oops: just been out for a nostalgic walk,around some old orchards & fields.i used to fly my previous bird here & do a lot of lamping with a lurcher(several years ago-before i had kids)
but it is all going under the dozer now,half is being built on right now!v.sad!
anyway after a few misses at bunnies(too many holes !!) my young male harris took his first kill. my 8yr old son lifted up an old shheet of wood,the bird was off the fist & got it! a fully grown short-tailed vole!!doh!
one good thing he retrieved it to the glove!!-i just hope he doesnt become wedded to that quarry!
ah well has taken fur now,maybe catch a wren tomorra!

Nice one mate, I had a little male about 3 years ago that would tackle nothing BUT voles and mice. Does your head in when you go out after rabbits and they catch and eat 3 or 4 voles in about 15 minutes!!

dont like the sound of that hawka!!i'd better hope the vole population crashes round here!mind you shame to see all the kestrels dissapear.
fingers crossed next kill will be somewhat larger!
strangely i called him up to the glove for half a rat & he brought the vole with him,but dropped it to grip the rat-so my sons corn snake had variation in its diet!!

It could go either way to be honest mate. I've just sold a big female that switched from rabbits to voles and wouldn't go back. She would stoop in and whack them so hard they popped. She's gone for display now.
