1. Falco B.Abyssinicus
2. Falco B.Tanypterus
3. Falco B.Erlangeri
4. Falco B.Feldeggei
5. Falco B.biarmicus - nominal subspecies
Imeno passovite gi pravi so brzi i strmni udari.

Sokolot vo toj moment se ustremi i so neverojatna preciznost go ulovi svojot obrok.

Longvings this particular species is Falco biramicus feldeggi, just like the name of the thread says, not a saker. Sakers, Gyr falcons and Lanners are believed to have a common ancestor in the Hierofalco order. Perhaps that's why it looks to you like a saker. Sakers are different than lanners, they are bigger, and if you look closer saker's have toes thicker and shorter then the lanners, in comparison to their body. I intentionaly showed some foto's of tail markings so people can see the differances.
All the best,

With all do respect to your previous experiance mate, Sorry to dissapoint you, but you have obviously never flown Feldeggi lanner.
If you have some doughts you can also visit www.sokolarstvo.com.mk (http://www.sokolarstvo.com.mk) and look up in activities, where mentioned biarmicus is ment on this subspecies.
Or also you can visit the italian feldegii site take a look - to http://www.fondazionelanario.it/portal
The feldeggii subspecies resebles a saker mate but it's a separate subspecies of lanner. Perhaps your previuos experiances are with African lanners?

Jesu bogme.

A evo i grlice...

Jakk,
it is 1.96lb's.
But she needs to go down a bit for some serious hawking.Just to reach that point of agressivnes (which they in my opinion lack compared to peregrines).
They are smarter then peregrines though.Very soon she will become bored by lurework and ask for different setups which I am willing to give her. Would realy like to see it's potential during the course of time.
Here's the one I flew few years ago (she's being treted medicine now) :-(
This is the way I fly my birds to the lure - I wanna see that beak grasping for air.Perhaps I went a bit too far this time, but you see....she was tame hecked social imprint that was flown every single day, and she did not mind this.

Yes it is true, it negativly affects the hight if done for too long time.
One must not overdo it, just enough to develop muscle mass and switch to positioning work and than gradualy pick up height.

Would you not consider kiting the falcon from the off set and then throwing baggies underneath to condition the falcon to gaining height?
good thread :supz:
I'm currently trying to source a clutch of lanners next year that I will hopefully wild hack and keep a female back and see if the wild hack makes a difference to them as a falconry bird :)
