i was just driving down the motorway going to the beach to take the dog for a run when sat on the hard shoulder was a buzzard going past it at 70 ish i new something was wrong so off at next exit 3 miles awy down the other side of motorway 7 miles then back to wher i saw the bird pulled in got out stood behind it and picked it up got it in the back of car got home accessed the situation broken/fracterd legthats now in a splint on wing was hanging low so ive strapped that up ..ive gave the bird some lectide cleaned up the cuts ...if its not dead my the morning may have a chance of recovery..fingers crossed
Well done, Hawkman, and good luck with it. You never know which way these things will go, but it's always worth trying. All the best!

Speed is the key if he's gonna stand any chance of pairing this season?
You cant help but like buzzards though eh? they look great in the air and you have to respect their ability to go up so well in all sorts of weathers.
Just dont like to see em ripping the heads off me Partridge?

In work this morning and got a call , our local injured buzz finally succumbed . got there an he was as if asleep on the grass, had a broken tarsus an it was mingin , keel sharp as a tack . funny how deceiving it is to see them soar above you. nature is cruel , but he wont go to waste, put him in the freezer for possible imping material.... phone DEFRA in the morn just ot make sure all is ok
Release him on ours Gaz,.."G" will have a play with him

i see. well read up on as much as you can. there are few good books out there. I recommend a book by Adrian Hogarth entitled "Hawking and Falconry for Beginners".
Another is by Jemima Parry Jones entitled "Jemima Parry-Jones' Falconry"
Both books are full of amazing info..
Oh! a book by Emma Ford also: "Falconry : Art and Practice"
