Hi!
Allthough i've posted the same question in the 'owls' forum allready, thought it could be interesting in general, thus hereby...
Does anyone have any experience in keeping multiple species in 1 aviary, and which species might that be then, and what was your experience?
Regards,
Marco

Hi
We have never tried it with owls but always over winter our vultures (turkey, palm nut and hooded) with our crested caracara in the same heated aviary. There may be a small amount of squabbling in the first hour but after that they are fine.

I know someone who kept a tawny barny in the same pen.
Most of our owls will get on in close proximity, the white facesd scops is in love with the female little owls lol! The only one to watch out for is our male barn owl, he will attack any owl, including the female european, and she's a big wimp lol.
What do you plan on keeping in aviaries?

we keep a turky vulture and black vulture together and plan to keep the brahminy and black kites together in the future, it seems scavenging bird who live in groups are ok but I'd worry about owls

I have seen a African Fisheagle and tawny eagles in one aviary. My friends Barnowl attacs everything including his steps eagle. And the eagle was shitting her pens. The Barn owl even goes for the Harris Hawks when he is flying free.

The boy with the camera is quite bussy, I hope that we can do them this week. She is going for the kit now at about 100 feet. I have not done it since friday. Will give it a try the next days. The pole lure works ok. The pics should be up at the end of the week.

No plans, realy Hannah, just cusious...
I know of a place (aviary) in which buzzard, turkeyvulture, sparrow and kestrtel are kept together for years with no problems. And allthough they must be fed up, i'll gues, it still strikes me with wonder and amazement!
