Hi
Any one in the Welsh Hawking Club in the forum from the midlands? Do you go to the meetings on the last Tuesday of the month?

Hi Griffmj. I phoned Mick Kane last month to see if the midland section was still meeting, he told me that it was just few friends , about half a dozen or so that meet up now for a drink and not really a club meeting as such and that i would be welcome but not to expect to much . i go to the Cental Falconry and Raptor club and i really enjoy it they have guest speakers most months and there are quite a few prominant falconers the President of the club is Geoff Dalton of the Cotswold falconry centre and the Chairman is John Hill , a very friendly bunch they meet on the 2nd sunday of the month at the Sports Connexion on the leamington rd near Ryton - on - dunsmore Coventry check out the website www.central-falconry.co.uk R'gards Rob.

Hi Rob
Thanks for the reply....looks like the WHC midlands ...is just a best mates club then? Just tried your link and that website is now temporarily closed. I shall contact Mick Kane and see what his intentions are about a pub meet at the end of this month..... I have spoken to a few people now who have gone to this meeting and they have all said that they were either ignored or treated like lesser mortals due to senior falconers "self esteem" being overbearing?

Hi Griffmj, i can't really comment as i did'nt think it was worth the trip from what mick said about it but the Central falconry and raptor club would make you more than welcome i hope to see you there sometime. R'gards Rob.

Hi Rob
I will certainly come to the club meet, I will get details from John Hill and see if I can bring a box of hoods as well.

Hello Griff
The meetings have been on hold for a while due to the location not available anymore, we still hold regular field meets of course during the hawking season, we treat all members the same, if they fly a HH or a Gos,or a falcon, one problem we do have his getting HH flyer's to attend field meetings, ? so most are goshawkers, yes there are some very experienced falconers within all of the WHC club, if people have problems with this then maybe another hawking club would be more suited to what they are looking for from a club, our main policy is hawking with our birds.
many thanks

Hi Mick
Thanks for the reply, I have been wanting to come to a meet but was not sure of the venue. The comments I have made in previous posts are observations from aquaintances and not my own (genuine field falconers). If you are having a pub meet in the near future I would very much like to come ..... I want to enter my Lanner falcon next season and I would like to gain some knowledge from more experienced falconers who could give me some pointers in the right direction.
BTW if you need a Raptor friendly pub to meet at let me know :)
Mick
I contacted you a couple of months ago regarding meetings of the WHC.
What I am interested in is the Novice Scheme. Does the WHC Midland Branch still offer the scheme or has this been put on hold as well?
The would be one of the plus reasons for myself joining the club so that I would have an experienced Falconer keeping an eye on me and offering advice.
Thanks
Bod

Hi All
Most of our members are from notts,& Derby and if we can get the interest back then we will bring the venue back to Notts, Derby's border, Junction 27, or 28 would be better, i have moved to Lincs and we cannot get anybody to take my role has Secretary, what we need is some new blood in the club, i would hope we can continue but if we do not get some help on the committee then we may lose the Midland Region of the WHC. which will be a shame.
cheers
Billy
