just reading a thread on oooooooo ahhhh birds just wondering what every ones would be... mine is the bio coloured hawk. http://www.falconryforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=2155&highlight= ..There is a species of hawk used (well, "kept" anyway!) in falconry that you won't find listed in any falconry books. It is the Ooh-Aah bird. They come is various forms, all very very big. ... jack merlins is the australian brown gos

Yeah stay away from Macaws as well, worst bite I ever got was on a an excursion to a lake in the brazillian rain forest, where they had 'tame macaws' one flew down on to my shouloder, & had a 'nibble ' on my ear. unfortunately I wasn't quick enough to neck the f@£%*&g thing before it flew off. I bled like a stuck pig & had to have 14 stitches in my ear! Hope this gives you all a laugh<BG>

Well,

For me the smaller accipiters...but can not make up my mind which ones i like the most...Just saw the bio coloured hawk here and they look amazing. I also like the black sparrow hawk a lot. Some falconer from south africa who visited me last year actually flies one of those, but he is living where they came from so the birds suits there better. Coopers is also very beatifull and nice bird.

But well..since I live in Europe and I think that it's the best for any falconer flying only native birds as much as possible, I would go for the European sparrow hawk. Actually that is what I am going to do this year if breeding will be succesfull at the breeder where i ordered one...hope to get mine in about 1,5/2 months time...

I was born in Paupa New Guinea, and lived there till i was 10 , it really is "bird Island" , there are so many different species of birds of prey, it would be hard to make a desision, new guinea harpy eagle sounds the most interesting , and because theres very little in mammal life in PNG most BOP hunt birds exclusivley , 30-35" , love to have the chance to fly one but it would be impossible to even find one let alone trap it .. bring it back! There are also 7 different species of Goshawk there too, if i ever get a chance to live there again i'll have to try one!
