Hi Moritz
Subspecies : Five races of Lanner Falcon are recognised and they are : -
1. From Italy to Turkey the race present is Feldeggii, the darkest and most heavily marked race
2. Erlangeri from North-West Africa is paler with less Rufus crown
3. Tanypterus from North-East Africa and the Middle East is similar but slightly larger. F. b.
4. Abyssinicus occurs from Senegal to Ethiopia
5. Biarmicus in eastern and southern Africa
Looks like the ERLANGERI subspecies :)

Remember guys not everyone knows birds of prey that well and once a chap has a picture he gets confused or remebers a name or the wires just get crossed somewhere.
THAT IS NOT A LANNER!

Tough one and too easy to be wrong really, but of course it does look like there is Gyr in there, so it may be Gyr/Lanner, but look at the size of those toes???

Definately got some lanner in it. But i would guess lanner/pergrine hybrid judging from the wings. They look very perigrine.

I STILL think it is a Gyr/Lanner.

My guess is Falco biarmicus erlangeri. It is small (too small to have gyr in it), pale and the forehead isn't black, as it is in F. b. feldegii, but white-reddish as it is in the north african subspecies.
