What is typical.. to capture and release yearly, or stay on the bird you originally captured?

That is an issue which is debatable amoung various falconers, there is no absolute answer only indiviual opinon. I say personally, it depends on the bird and it's particular abilities and appearence

In South Africa, we released before the moult each year, but if one was to accquire an exceptional hawk then, it was rather acceptable to keep it for up to 3 seasons.
