Is anybody starting at the grouse on the 12th? I've been grouse counting the past couple of weeks and numbers were mostly up on recent years, only two beats down, both of which were witnessed to have been flown over by wild Golden Eagles before the count started.

where i live it is the "glorious 15th", as that is the official opening of the season. the grouse numbers are ok (sage grouse), the game commission is recommending an open season in most areas and is going to allow a season in a region that was closed the last five years. life is good and i should have a bird or two... or three ready by then. :supz:

Barry,
Going up to dog for a party on the 18th in Caithness.
There was a good spring pair count, great hatching conditions and nothing too horrendous since so it could a great year.
Last year was stange, it was either big coveys of mature youngsters or barren pairs and not much in between.
Time will tell..
Nick
