I have had mine since last week. It was a good deal of trouble to get as I am the only falconer in Abitibi, all the wildlife agents were completely dumbfounded about it and made me wait for the agent who delivered my falconry permit to come back from vacations... Then, he had to do his research before delivering it. Then, he told me I would receive it in the mail a week or two after they received my payment, by money order. I was furious! He took for granted that I wanted the permit for hares which open in mid september, it never occured to him that blackbirds, crows, pigeons and the like were already open! But as soon as I told him he made my permit and came to my work to deliver it to me! I hope next year it won't be so much hassle, but hey we now have permits so who am I to complain!

Thanks for the info Kitana... I'll drop an email to my communication officer... But he's pretty Falconry friendly. I'll keep you posted.

...falconry friendly or not it is his job anyway. Lets not forget a wildlife officer is a civil servant not supposed to intimidate you but to serve you.
The law is the law as they say. Glad you had yours Kitana.
I hade a visit from them yesterday to "inspect" my paperwotk and bird bands. All is fine.
Does the bird's bells size be ok for you Yann ?

I keep having to remind myself of that whenever I have reason to reflect on some of my conversations with such chaps this end.

My wildlife officer is very falconry friendly, he and one of his co-workers are looking into falconry for themselves at the moment, they are fascinated and helped me a lot in finding good spots for hares. I guess it is the "new" factor of this all, and a general disgust to take decisions and initiatives from the other officers who made me wait for his return... You see that often in public functions unfortunately.
Dan please dont ever forget civil servants are never in their view anyones servant and very seldom civil. Regardless of the law far too many of them suffer from the "in my time of course" syndrome.

Lets say I have found their "soft spot" to make things move a little more than they usually do. But some are already cooperative and proficient

Yep...they are A-1 Dan!
I've always had good service from my local officer... even during the "dog tag mishap" ;)
