Just curriosity, why do Falcons 'bob' their head?

In general hawk and falcons do this when they see something they are interested in............................food or quarry mainly.

Ah. Just noticed, at the sanctuary i help at, we got an american kesteral, peregrine falcon, saker falcons and a lanner falcon, and I've noticed, with the lanner and kezzy the most, they turn their head, and then 'bob' it.

It is to focus and judge distances.

My saker does that - cracks me up every time! She looks forward to me coming at 4 in afternoon as I noramlly feed her then.
