what hood block for a male harris?

I have recently bought a set of hood blocks and wanna test around a bit with hood making, but was wondering what size of block would suite a average size harris? the sizes I have is
No 1 = 42m, No2 = 43mm, No3 =44mm, No4 = 46mm, No5 = 47mm, No6 = 48mm,No7 = 49mm, No8 = 53mm, No9 = 54mm ,No10 = 55mm.
Also is it a good idea to block anglo indian hoods also?

Their head size is 40 - 44

Same as saker size

hmmm....Saker female on average is a size 9 in my hoods (sorry Paul)....a male harris is normally a size 5 or 6.... Female Harris on average is a size 8 (same as female Pere etc)....if that helps..

So if you have a male saker hood that fits on a block, chances are it will work. Im not sure how many mm you need to add on to the head size to fit the correct block, but griff knows best i'm sure.

I think people do block anglos but I think most just mould the upright stithing part with a stitching marker handle or similar. But I'm sure blocking is better if you can.

hannah, both saker and gyr vary in size considerably. So when you hybridise them you get even greater difference in size

I would say a gyr/saker male would have a head size of about 42 - 47mm

I'm not sure if this is the hood block size or whether you need to add a bit.

male saker head size is 40 - 44 mm

I think you may be better off measuring the head yourself.

Or better still as you work at a centre try different hoods until you find a suitable size then see which block it fits on best.
