Hi all,
We are still looking for additional Staffordshire or Shropshire based Austringers who would like to contribute this season, to our forthcoming professional video by having their Goshawk filmed for inclusion. All contributors interested will recieve a complimentary final copy and be credited at the end. The video is being filmed in HD for intended distibution on DVD. The footage will however initially be distributed in highest quality DV on DVD, the HD format will be archived for the time being, and not be delivered in HD until the new HD players have become the norm in peoples homes. I cannot release details but it will be both entertaining and informative. We are also looking for knowledgable Falconers with good Falcons for another forthcoming project.

Wishing you all a good flying season.

Regards ..Rand

guys are showing interest, so please keep in touch. as flights often last only a few seconds you will be surprised how many flights will be needed in total for example say a 15 - 20 minute slot

kind regards ....Rand

hi derek, if i can get enough complimentary footage on actual flight scenes to fill a reasonable slot, around feb next year. Would love to be able to get it available for xmas but its too close to get the rest of what I need. too much cover on the ground too etc.

Rand I take it the end product will be for sale?
Seems to me your producing a saleable item on the backs of other falconers?
Surely anyone offering there services are entitled to a part share even a small one of the profits? Alf.

but then there isnt many good hunting videos with gosses in. id be well pleased to contrabute to the video if it turned out to have some good footage. if no one helps out then no video is for sale so every one then looses in my view.

thanks sophie. although this video may be more suited in appeal, to seasoned austringers, and definitely not to encourage less experienced falconers to go out and buy a Gos, I might add, it is also aimed at those who would welcome an insight into improving their handling and general management techniques.

with the deepest of respect to you alf, and solely regarding another major project nearing completion, we have voluntarily agreed to support the campaign for falconry, by joint agreement of the hawk board. We are the ones spending thousands of pounds investing in time and money with no guarantees at the end. yes it is being produced as a business venture, no one is being forced into anything. There are those who are more than happy to oblige, and those who immediately see pound notes. I have my own hawks and falcons to fall back on, but the time scale for production of a top quality video unlke some of the norm you see for sale will affect production. I take it you dont have a knowledgable idea of the full costs of proper film production including marketing. This film I hope will benefit falconers from novice to experienced, by presenting falconry and those who pursue it in a better light. enough said..

Ash seeing good footage of your hawk is something I wouldn’t mind seeing myself
Although if someone wants to use this footage to make a few £ then why not share with the rest some of the proceeds of the profits.
You wouldn’t ask an actor to make a film and pay him nothing if the film made money.
Hey I would love to see some great footage of goshawks hunting and I hope this vid is a great success, just hope the guys filming and putting it out reward the guys who make it all possible that’s all. Alf.

thanks for that. much appreciated. its not just about someone making money as some may see it.. Falconry has been my lifes dedication, falconry for the past 46 years, with music my second. I started when I was 8 years old. These films will happen regardless.

yes but unlike a actor i do falconry for lesuire, pasion and obesesion so would be doing it any how, so i can only be pleased for some one to come out and try and capture some of the moments and maybe share them with the the falconry comunity. we could do with more money but i dont see how letting rand say come out hunting who takes all the risk of production travel and all that could pay each person. i wouldnt ask for money. but then maybe im the fool alf  i just dont see it would happen alf if he payed ppl for there footage. there would be no motivation for rand to produce the film if the profits where so low and then we would have no dvd so in the end we all loose, in my view.

Ash like I said in my first post however small.
Look it would take anyone who has the equipment and the know how to produce a great video only thing is that video would not be of goshawks doing what they do best.
It doesn’t take a man who knows about videoing to produce a video about goshawks it takes the falconer who own the goshawks without these guys he has nothing!
Maybe he won’t make a lot of money selling this end product maybe he will, I don’t know the demand the costs of filming and producing distribution marketing so forth
But it seems feasible that Rand isn’t doing all this work for nothing and don’t tell me it’s for the love of the hawks! At the end of the day he wants to make a profit as does anyone if you want to give your services to Rand that’s fair enough I am sure you would be highly delighted with your free copy of your dvd at the end of it?
Alf.
