I made one from a 6v tractor starter run with a 12v car battery, I use 150lb braided fishing line and pulley's. I control the stop and start with an ignition thumb switch, you have to be very, very careful when using one.

I imported one called Enjoy from USA but whilst it was good It wasn't cheep so I started making them. Its easy small car starter motor had more than enough power Make a wind up disc out of wood £30 should do all the bits

No but if you look up Turner Richards they sell them. Like i said it is simple just elastic i have never tried or seen one used but it could be a good thing for a hawk it is to steady a dog i have been told. I have never heard of anyone using one for a hawk but i suppose it could be done just have to try it before you use it with a hawk to get the tension to get the right speed. But that could be adjusted by adding a piece of string to get the right speed over the distance you want to fly your hawk i think ? Just an idea but i think i may try it if anyone else has let us know ?

61505 Got this lure machine from a place in sheffield that makes them for the racing dogs. it works well with the dogs, never tried it with the birds, he uses a mini starter motor with a prop on so you can attach a reel.

I have, pegged it out as if training a Harris to simulate jinking runs. Works well. The one thing I found, for training dog's, it was too fast (probably over stretched!!!!!). Great for Harris' and has worked with a couple of Sakers and Gyr X Saker hybrids!!!

Tuner Richards Dog Training Supplies do them They are based in Birmingham I believe. Or Bunggy rope should do the trick. E-bay have some on there. 5 metre lengths buy it now £4.75

Hope this helps.

No it wont because its getting slower all the time. Dog and bird soon work out that they just wait and then go and pick it up!!

Interesting point. I have used them to steady dogs on retrieves and getting Harris' to sharpen their response from the wrist over a short distance. As well as what I previously mentioned.

My god, it was like watching Japanese TV where they show you the same moneyshot, time after time after time, with the sound repeating as well.
Woulda been nice for him to have actually showed us his lure machine. Otherwise how do we know it wasn't pulled by elves and fuelled by pixiedust?
:-D

Hi guys/girls thanks for your interest, this is what i will do...

I will make the first two machines for tigger and falcongriff at a trial price of £30

If they both say my design is good enough i will make a real advert in the 'for sale' section on this forum. Unfortunatly the price with rise ever so slightly.

You will need a starter motor with a long shaft to fit the spool on to, i think i used one from an old mini. Also need the solenoid, push button switch like that from a door bell cables and battery.

Just an idea for those who are fedup with winding up the string after each flight...

You design a circular route with rollers spaced every few metres. This way your line is never wound up, but instead just powered by the wheel at the starter motor. To prevent it slipping, a slice of bicycle inner tube is streched over the wheel to provide friction. The lure is attached to the circular line with an extra piece of string and a swivel.
