Dan it looks clean and clinical ideal for one hawk but if your thinking of this as a possible breeding chamber you better have a nice natured bombproof female? Alf.

What ? do you mean a chamber 8x24x10 feet with a separetor is no good ! They have bred in a much smaller chamber than that.

Anyway don't answer it's better for you.

I just read that Mike McDermot thinnks chamber raised coopers are useless, mental and with a low level hunting ability........what do you others think?

I am droll at times, I know. You didn't give me much of a setup to work with, afterall.

Dan if they have bred in a chamber like this then you might not have anything to worry about you must not have an aggressive female come the time of laying?
Nothing wrong with the size of the mews only the fact there seems to be very little cover for the male to hide behind if the female this year fancy’s turning aggressive on his ass.
I knew of a guy a breeder of coopers here in the UK he always mentioned that he needed some form of cover around the nest platform also he bred birds every year.
So I have answered you! Alf.

Alf:

Would you imagine that if they have not been raised up from youngsters together she will eventually nail him? I put in about 8 conifers and split the middle in half.

I had a chamber raised ( if thats a PR captive bred coops) from Jeremy Edwards bred by Natch ..........the birds was A1 but then again not flown a passage one or imprint......it wasnt mental, nor difficult to fly and it was prety much as you'd expect a PR accipiter to be....only thing is it mantled like hell on the fist....from day one bit odd for a PR though it was 1yr old untouched????

Dan you can’t be on top of these hawks the entire time mate the separators can’t be implemented at times when your not there.
The nicest female can turn aggressive once those hormones kick in it’s a great looking pen mate only from the photo it looks like the male has nowhere to hide a few obstacles dotted here and there for the male to get out the way of the female wouldn’t come a miss in my opinion. Alf.

Ben the mind of the imprint accipiter is hard enough to figure out but the mind of a female in breeding condition well I wouldn’t even go there.
Alf.
