hi guys. I was pointed to this forum by a chap in the airgun bbs, who said there were lots of yorkshiremen on here. I would join, but I've got about two dozen forum logins to keep track of, and I don't want another!

I'm new to feildsports, apart from some trapshooting and .22s at school, which hardly counts. I've read a little about hawking, but never seen it in real life - which is a great shame!

Are any of you Yorkshire fellows from the York area? I'd really love to see some falcons at work, especially in some of Yorkshire's magnificent countryside. So, would anyone welcome company? Do any of you hawk with clubs or associations? Do you have any tips for someone wanting to be involved in fieldsports in general?

thanks for your time,

jim

1.Join the BASC or countyside allience to get more into fieldsports.

2. Cancel one of your memberships at another forum and join the IFF.

Rick2168UK
22-06-2005, 12:57 AM
Don't own a bird at the moment.
Got an interest in Birds of Prey about 2 year ago after a visit to The Hawk Conservancy at Andover.
More on the photography line at the moment.

Tim Laycock
22-06-2005, 01:37 AM
Does your interest lie in practical falconry Rick. Or is it mainly the beauty of the birds? :D

Rick2168UK
22-06-2005, 10:48 AM
At the moment it's more the beauty of the birds.
Can just sit for hours up at Eccup Resevoir watching(and photographing) the red kites.
The falconry side does interest me and at some point I would like to get more involved.
Maybe take one of the flying courses at one of the centres, either Settle or Thirsk and eventualy own my own bird.
