What's the legislation regarding the import and export of birds from countries such Canada.

Has anyone had any experience of this? also cost of shipping charges etc.

Regards,

HH

You need to phone DEFRA about exporting, then the Canadian embassy about importing the other end.

In my experience (30 years?), livestock is generally charged on the volume of the box. I suspect there may also be quarantine going into Canada. I think there is from the USA. There will certainly be veterinary health requirements.

Every country has its own regulations, so "such as Canada" is pretty meaningless. At a guess, it will cost you a few hundred pounds.

Thanks Jack, thats a great help.

I thought it would be quite complicated and a fair bit of hassle.

It can be difficult for the person shipping the bird out of Canada as he has to have quite a few permits to do this.
