What makes you think she cant get to the nest mate?

What do you mean "setting" on the ground, do you mean she's laid on teh ground, do you mean she's settled on the ground for the past three to five days?

Have you been in with her? what does she do? What is the male doing at this time? (sorry Screeming JAy) the multiple Intermewed Sakarette of the genus Falco?

Straight to the vets in my opinion.

she does sound very poorly to me. can i just ask something? i really do not know much about breeding birds but i have heard they can go very lethargic before laying. just how lethargic do they go and if so does sakers' bird sound like she is going through this phase?

Bubo, you are correct in so far as they can go a bit lethargic prior to laying, but not to this extent or length of time. Saker71s first post was Sat and it had been like that for a few days prior. I have just caught this thread today and my first impression was that it may be egg bound but having read on and realised how long its been i would tend to rule it out. As H4wka said, straight to the vet.

It's when the female retains the egg in the oviduct and has difficulty laying it. Can be caused by change in the weather ie. turning wintery or stormy at spring time when they would normally be laying. It just so happens that we had that sort of weather here in Scotland last week, and saker71 is in Scotland as well. If a bird is egg bound and she is handled improperly you can break the egg inside leading to peritonitis and possible death. Even if you dont handle her and leave her to her own devices the result is likely to be the same. Unless you really know what you are doing, she needs a vet
