It's cool to see how fast the NA gos get their red eyes compared to the european. And I second what Helen say: can't wait to see what will be done with the Coopers!

First I'll breed from them, and then I'll keep one young for grouse hunting...I will keep you posted anyway !

You're right to say Audrey, NA Goshawks' eyes turns red during first molt...but notice the immature feathers still on the wings area and some flights too. It will molt next year.

Beautiful birds, why is it that no one talks about Coopers on here? Are they a difficult bird to hunt with?

Beauty Gos' Dan !!! Being new at some of the abbreviations I assume NA is North American blood lines. I'm curious what your opinion is regarding Fin vs european vs NA

In my humble opinion; they all need to be flown/hunted hard to bring them justice. The North American Goshawk is somewhat faster in dense cover but tend to be neurotic or depressive...

Nice looking birds Dan. John C. will be flying his son's Euro Gos this season. Can't wait to see her in action on the snowshoes. Excuse my ignorance, but are your gos's European or Finnish? What is the difference in appearance, if any?

Nice picture to show eyes color change in Goshawks also the difference in size. That's why the name "tiercel" is also used in a male Gos.

yes.

normally this can be huge problem...to put goshawks together whole year round?

Is this just really super good match and/or did do you use some tricks for enabling this putting together of male and female gos whole year round

I have found for myself that some pairs do just well together all year round if provided a certain set-up in aviaries. Most aggressions are occuring during hormonal increase prior to breeding. The rest of year is somewhat safe.

Wilfred, I am not intersted in discussing it any further.. as this set up and my recepy works well for me. Here is an idea of set-up that works well here in my hands

Such a sharp lookin Accipiter, Sleek and smooth. Looks like it could cut right through the trees and get at a bird feeder without problem!
