:)never oppose western falconry techniques we all use hoods and i have many more old hoods, here are some
Infect many Europeans are new to falconry and not know well that it is our old method we use generation by generation however i never ask any person that he do this because this procedure may be harmfully for birds eyes if not sealed carefully and after one week we must hood our birds. also i decide that i never submit any sealed eyes bird's picture because some people think this act cruel so i must avoid, but it is my experience that this technique is more best as we did in past.
so please enjoy some rare and old hoods now that you can realize that what type of falconry we have or did in past

Why would it be deleted??
As long as you are not breaking T and C or going off topic it will not be.

I was against seeling until it was carefully explained to me. Although I wouldn't do it myself , the practice seemed logical enough and from what I was told is painless.

i dont like the idea of seeling but i too have had it explained and its certainly a skilled technique ,although depite all my efforts i fail to see it being better than a well fitting hood and carrying an inherent risk of infection
but the eagle pics you showed depicted a well feathered healthy looking bird which is better than can be said of a lot
sorry got slightly distracted there top pics of the hoods
some look ancient but in a good way !
Thank you for posting the pictures Zahid they do look very old have you any idea what sort of age they are?

I have no problems with sealing the eyes. I personally would never do so myself, but I can see the benefit in doing so, and I understand that that's the way things were for years and years, and I have read in several books as recent as 60's 70's where it was still a recommended practice if you could learn from a skilled falconer. Again I'd never do so, but I have nothing against it if it is not cruel and disrespectful to the animal. I only have problems with falconer's who don't honor their bird, but use them as merely a tool of their whims.

Dear Zahid,
I have a collection of similar old hoods (originally from the collections of british falconers J.G. Mavrogordato & T.A.M. Jack), one of which is not stitched up the back but is held closed by the throat lash extending into the opposite side of the hood from each side --- almost as a forerunner to the dutch braces used on anglo-indian hoods.
Are you aware of this development in the indian hood, and more particularly, do you have any idea when it dates from?
Best wishes,
Tony.
