How to dye leather

Hows it done? I got some leather dye of westweal falconry but i dunno the right way to do it?

no serously who makes the dye and what leather are you trying to dye? also what finsh has the leather got. If it is a spirit dye you will probably have to kill the grease. what sort of area( size ) are you intending to dye?

it is fiebings leather dye and ill be dying thin calf. the size will only be the size of the patterns

I've been waiting for this thread for ages :lol: I've used in the past, spirit shoe dye :oops: and even after leaving it for well over 24 hours, I find that it still comes off onto your hands!!! perhaps it's probably not the right type but I would still like to know if you nedd to treat or coat the dyed surface to stop any leaching!!!

well i managed to dye the leather lol. I didnt see instructions on the dye box, but when i took the bottle out, there were instructions on that lol. all i had to do was use a thing that looked like a very large cottonbud, dip it in the bottle and wipe along the leather. after an hour i wiped it with my fingers and none of it came of :D.

sorry i have not been around VVV Busy getting gear ready for the fair. I will post a comprehensive reply , but after the fair because I hav equite a detailed answer for you on this subject. BTW sounds like a spirit dye
