hi forum members now i am posting a total different thread.
Osprey were not used in Indian falconry but they have like to attack any bird of prey enter in their residence area or near the nest.my friends hunters trapped an osprey and sent it to me i had no time to keep because i was busy so my brother keep it.he trained this osprey in 8 days and i was just wonder that how he do it we kept it for just15 days.it is very sensitive bird need more much care but its behavior is more friendly.by long time siting on perch osprey was loosing its weight and i asked my brother to release it. we practiced this bird on near river.here are pictures hope you like.

I have never trained ospreys but rehabbed a few of them, and most of the time they don't do well at all in captivity. They are recognized for their tendancy to become anorectic and refuse to eat in captivity, and they are immensely susceptible to asper. Sweet temper, but usually the reason they are so sweet is because they are starving to death...
Falconry for ever

Thank you Zahid for the sensational pictures, not many falconers coming across whit ospreys nowadays.
Do you know any details about how the osprey has been catched exactly ?
Cheers:Joe

U r using ropes with ur bird wht kind of a falconar u r. And we would like 2 hear about ur falconry experiencednow if we put a picture of a bird with rags used everyone wod jump on us i have read his threads i think he only traps the birds to sell
and my thoughts are people on here love our birds and dont like too see bad falconry praticed allover the world and i think sealing is bad pratice now falconry has come along way since the start of falconry , thats why we use better equipment for the sake of our birds and we use modern tecnolgy to find our birds we are all modern falconers and our sport is better for it over years some sports have been stoped we dont want this to happen to ours .

Anyone else work with Ospreys as falconry birds? I have only found two so far....well now three.
Too bad things didn't work out for you Zahid..I'd be curious to figure out reasons for the weight loss...simply not enough food? Maybe it was too stressed and trained/manned too fast to eat enough? Puzzling..
I live in an area with many many osprey and many many rivers and lakes.
Zahid,
I was very interested to see the pictures you sent of old falconry equipment. These two photographs are of a pair of cast bells that a friend gave me in the 1960's. They had been sent to him as falconry bells. They are very heavy and have never been used. They do look very like the bells in the middle picture that you posted. Can you tell us anymore about them? They do seem very heavy and the open areas are so large a bird could easily get a talon caught! I don't really know why I kept them but they have been sitting in a box since I was given them.

hi these are Indian bells its sound is more attractive and these bells are only using for eagles not falcons because its weight is a little exceed and i used many time these bells but eagle never caught by talon or beak.

I know that a facility in Darwin Australia has an osprey trained to catch fish in their flying demonstration. Would love to see it in action.

We have never seen in the birds pictures u posted till today all the birds seem in the condition as the trappers sell in Pakistan eyes sealed and ropes instead of jersy. But u never used hoods and jersy with your birds in picture all in ropes and eyes sealed. i would like 2 advice kindly if u r a falconar put these 2 ur bird and then post them.
it is 16s single jersy fabric and best for sensitive bird and so soft however i have many jesses

Nothing personal. By the way i am still a student learning falconry. And how much 4 these birds u want.
U r a great falconar because u r keeping different passage bird at a same time some time u talk of eagles, then u switch 2 shaheens then 2 other u r doing falconry on all these birds at same time which is only possible 4 u. i think non of falcanor do this there is limited 2 choice. But trappers desplay whts trapped.

So u should accept that u r a passage bird trapper and sell these birds 2 other illegaly. its not tradition its ur job. Working 4 black market of falconry in Pakistan.

A friend pointed about ur jersy in the picture none of them can be use in flying birds u show them 2 any falconar. If u fly the bird with ur jersy it will be hanging on a tree up side down. Ur jersy in the pictures r joined at the lower end. They r good in pictures but not with the bird of prey thts y i am asking u 2 b a passage bird trapper dealer not a falconar.

hi Mr Kamran I had never oppose you until your mail forward to me by Mr. Jewgeni.you only try to damage my personal image it is not a problem for me.
but i worked hard for my book.you asked me that i am not a falconer??????
ok come on Lahore and see my eagles during training.are you a falconer???
then you can easily handle my eagles with open eyes plz handle just for five minute
it is so far to train and handle an eagle but if you only touch my eagle i then can say that you are also a traditional falconer.
i have many falconer friends they have also trappers its mean that they are not falconer?they have not even a single photo of their bird.meanwhile their history are full with falconry.I have many friends also doing this business.where from you purchased your birds from a ghost????or from these dealers.
it is also a factor of falconry Trapping training and hunting.
how many birds you purchased with open eyes from markeet???

i already shown you many jeses you can see and you can see in foot of shaheen and eagle. during training we not use jeses but we use a soft fabric that bird make no resist to it. fresh trapped bird can break or damage jeses
osprey is sensitive its legs are more sensitive so i had do good.see that osprey sat on a relax able fabric also.when i touched it some of its feather fell down so i just estimated that i should keep it with care.long time flying is necessary for osprey for fitness but here are no facility to fly it daily we have no land near my house also i am doing job so i have no time to keep i am thankfull to my brother,my friends especially Rafey Arshad that they morally help me for caring of my birds.
