Frank co-authored the book "North American Falconry and Hunting Hawks" and was one of the founding fathers of North American Falconry. He lived a wonderful and exciting long life and we are all blessed to have known him. He has done great things for our sport and we owe him a debt of gratitude!

A GREAT loss! It was his writings and ideas that opened up my own personal work with imprinted falcons and particularly imprinted Goshawks. I owe him so much for urging me into their world. His observations of birds in the wild, from what and how they hunted, to nesting analysis, trapping techniques, etc. was brilliant and useful information for anyone who aspires to fully understand the birds in captivity. His insight and communication will be sorely missed.

You can see Franks influence by things said here on these pages. We met in August 1964. Most might not know that Frank was doing bird abatement back then. He and friend Brian Davies had eight falcons for this work. Peales & Gyrfalcons they flew at gulls at the main airport near Victoria, B.C. The book he had co authored with Hal Webster had been out two years then. The memories of that visit and a trip to the Queen Charlotte Island in 1968 for Peales falcons, will remain among the memories of Frank. He shared a lot of his ideas with the falconry community and they seemed endless. He was fiesty about falconry issues important to him. He remained active for all his life. He certainly added much to falconry. Thanks for your many contributions Frank.

I feel I am very lucky to have met Frank Beebe on several occassions, and of course whilst it is sad that he is gone, he is in pain no more. He also had a full and long life and whilst I mourn his passing as we will ot be able to speak any more, it is far more tragic when a life is cut short in its youth ( beleive it or not we actually discussed this at length about 5 years ago) I hope my sentiments here are not misread or represented, just trying to add personal angle on a man much loved by many. hth..... RIP Frank

He lived a long and very fruitful life. My only concern is he didn't live long enough to become an honorary or honored member of NAFA.
It doesn't matter now, Franks somewhere else. RIP Frank.
I can see an issue of the Passager dedicated to honoring Frank.

I met Frank at a falconry meet in Ellensburg, Wasington, USA in Nov of 1965. I was a mere 14 years old and his unqualified attention paid to all will always be remembered. He helped me immensely with my knowledge or lack of for the gyrfalcon. We conversed often over the next 40 years. Those of us in Northwest (US and Canada) were affected by his influence in ways we are not even aware of...... Rest in Peace "Old Falcon"

Frank was an inspiration to falconers the world over, not only practically, but philosophically and politically. At a NAFA meet in the early eighties, Frank and Hal Webster chatted and amused many a young and old falconer at the get togethers in the evenings. I was struck by their down to earth and friendly, easy-going attitude to everyone. A stark contrast to many of the NAFA officiers that were there. Although only a small man, I remember vividly the moment Frank walked into a NAFA meeting one evening, you could have heard a pin drop, and I remember watching Jim Weaver's reaction, as his chest began to heave and his heart began to pound. Frank Beebe was a colossus in the world of falconry who spoke with a refreshing truth and clarity, he kept many of the falconry hierachy on their toes, which is why perhaps he was treated so shamefully by them in his lifetime. Frank will be sorely missed!

I would like to thank all those who contacted me.
Frank also wished to have no funeral, but there will be a family gathering to celebrate his life accomplishments.

To Klara and the Beebe Family,
My sincere condolences to you all on the passing of Frank. I new Frank for about 20 years and still it was not enough. Whether it was in his paintings, books or teachings Frank sacrificed a lot so that we (the falconry community) would gain a lot. Frank was a friend, mentor and inspiration to us all. While Frank has physically left us, I would like to think that his spirit is now in a goshawk or gyrfalcon (one of his two favourite birds) and that he is now flying above us. Frank, you shall be missed but not forgotten. Thank you for all that you did. God Bless You.

Hi there,
I knew Frank very well since I was nine or so, as did many falconers in BC. He was pivotal in my involvement in falconry along with many other now falconers as well.
It is not very often that an artist, falconer/naturalist and writer come together such as Frank.
The site below has been put together to honor his place in the evolution of modern falconry.
We are also having a BCFA field meet whom Frank was an Honerary member of on DEC 6th in Chemainus BC, to gather and share memories and stories,.....and fly birds.
The site is www.frankbeebe.org
the letter below explains the intent of the site.
Sincerely,
Ben Wallace

John,
In your capacity at The Archives of Falconry, and per our conversations in the past few months regarding ways to honor Frank Beebe, I submit the following. Please do your best to get this to as many falconers as possible so they know about this unique memorial website.
As we agreed, getting many small donations will serve as a great testimony to the widespread respect and admiration that Frank earned as perhaps the premier all around falconer on this continent. We request donations of $10 - we appreciated those like you who have already committed $100 contributions to the effort.
Please check out: http://www.frankbeebe.org.
Christine and I set this up with Klara Beebe's approval. People can make contributions to memorializing Frank, or make a contribution to his wife. The first $1000 will specifically go to “The Wall of Remembrance”, at the Archives of Falconry, the remainder will be used as noted on the website. We will provide you with a list of donors when the bronze plaque in Frank’s name is ready for mounting.
In its next phase this site will allow people to share memories of Frank by sending email to us - these will be reviewed, approved and up-loaded, as received, for public viewing. Letters should be sent to frank@frankbeebe.org. We will also be accepting pictures that have something to do with Frank and use the same process of review, as for emails. We ask donors of photos to provide high quality images, and send them to: pictures@frankbeebe.org.
We will also have a section dedicated to video - as you know I have well over 8 hours of interviews of Frank, for a documentary film of his life and times. This film was shot in Vancouver, BC (2006) at or near his home. Hal Webster, Frank’s long time friend, accompanied me to Vancouver. Hal who co-created NAFA and co-authored North American Falconry & Hunting Hawks, with Frank, is also the subject of two doucumentary films.
We welcome ideas for keeping this site as an international virtual memorial to our falconer friend, Frank Beebe. Christine and I have been in regular contact with Klara and plan to keep her informed and advised as the site develops.
Frank will be sorely missed, but he will not be forgotten, because his band of brothers and sisters from around the globe will acknowledge that we have lost a legend. Some have tried to diminish Frank’s importance to the development of falconry in North America with malice and contempt. Even while these detractors live in glass houses, they cast stones at a man whose life accomplishments equal that of three men. This tribute to Frank will begin our answer.
We want this letter to go viral; we want every falconer to have five reminders to donate. We ask all falconers to send it to everyone in their address book. I look forward to sending you a list of donors and a check for $1000 to have Frank's name put on the Wall of Remembrance at the Archives of Falconry.
All the best,
Mike Dupuy

An undoubtable legend in his and every falconer to comes time. Beebe and Webster's book was my first informative book into falconry, and I credit Frank with the MAIN reason why I passed my falconry exam. I will always hold a lot of respect for this pioneer of our field sport. His efforts, art and publications will be forever sought after by falconer's and biologists alike. Many condolences and much love to the Beebe family and all the friends that surrounded Frank in his life. May he forever fly high on his new wings!

It is really very sad indeed to hear about the demise of such a great falconer - a man who was legend in his own lifetime. Although, I never knew Frank personally but I heard a lot about him from Canadian falconer friend of mine, and he knew Frank personally. It is painful to see the pillars of our sport pass away. These are men who contributed their entire lives to keeping this sport and part of our collective heritage alive.
While we all honour Frank and his accomplishments and contributions to falconry. I suggest that we should also set up a fund to look after the falconers of yesteryear, in their twilight years. Furthermore, the IAF or the IFF perhaps should have a global archive of falconry, where the masters of present and yore from all over the world are honored for their achievements and contributions to this sport.
I am sure Frank's spirit is up there, soaring like an eagle, cutting through the air like a falcon, and bursting forth like a hawk. May the Lord have mercy on his soul, and give his family the strength to bear this irreparable loss.

It was sad to read this post and hear the loss of a great falconer and a pioneer in modern falconry.
Most of us has benefitted from reading his books and notes that added to their experience.
We will always remember him and his improvement to the sport of falconry during the legacy of a lifetime of Mr. Beebe.
