If you want to buy some, you can get them on the Northwoods falconry site. They sell them for $40 a pair which is about 25 to you......Or I can PM you his phone # and you can buy a set directly from him.

I have just got some. They are very stiff and seem a bit high.
I bought them from northwoods but i think westwealdfalconry are going to be doing some very similiar to these this year.

Yes they should but i have concerns with them,
is the way the bewit fixes on going to get caught on something and how stiff the infill between the toes could get if not properly greased. Also they are cut the same as a false almeri.

Does the inlay between the toes have a detrimental effective on footing.

Isn't Gary Brewer a world renowned expert on catching squirrels, if so then his design should be well proven in the field.

No I haven't use them. But would have thought that Gary after writing the book solely aim at hunting squirrels and also seen on video would be ample enough for myself. I have seen different squirrel chaps used though with no problems. Also caught a few squirrels without resultant damage to the hawks feet.

I put chaps on my bird and she still got bitten on the leg and feet.
Experienced bird aswell. It might be because the squirrels here have tattoo's with love and hate written on there paws.

I think there's no guarantee with chaps of any design, sods law kicks in at anytime. Once my male harris took a dog squirrel out of the top of a bloody tall tree, it had climbed to last inch of it - swaying on a tiny twig, the harris went up and took it clean out the tree. Problem was it the harris wasn't strong enough to maintain flight with it in his talons. He came down like a spinning jenny, smashing into the ground with it. No bites but a severely swollen leg from the impact. Good vet bill, had him x-rayed but luckily no breaks just severe swelling - it never went back to its original size.

Sorry, this may be a bit off thread.......If my Harris is free lofted and regulary can see Squirrels thru' his bars, will he become used to them or just get so wound up, he'll go bananas when he gets out? My last bird got used to the ferrets as they were always in his sight.

They are like that for a short while when new. They look much too tall, but what you need to do is wet them and form the skirt part to flare out a bit. It will do it on it's own over a few days too, but I prefer to make the form fitted.

I use Gary's chaps on all my birds and have notice no ill effect from them. I have seen a ton of bites located on the chap skirt from squirrels that would of otherwise been a toe. You are correct in that nothing is fool proof, and my birds still got bit now and then, but I strictly flew my birds on the large fox squirrels. The chaps did not seem to affect the footing of the bird at all as far as I could tell....We still caught almost 40 fox squirrels this season. The bewit design keeps the bells free and clear of the chap itself so that they could produce a clear sound without being hampered by the chap. All in all, I would not fly my RT's on squirrels without them, let alone a Harris....

Ferrets are different as the bird learns that ferrets are rabbit magicians just like dogs provide food aswell.
My bird often has a squirrel run along the top of its weathering and it still goes nuts for them.I have never fed my bird up on one either.

Thanks for that great info you have cancelled some of my doubts.
I will work the chaps a bit with water to help them flare out.
