hi my name is david and i want to make some hoods

but i heard if you use leather that was tanned with chemicals it could be hazardous to the falcon..and if you glued the seams would it be hazardous

You should not have problems with glued hoods providing you get the proper glue I have never nor has Dennis Maynes had any problems and he makes the finest glued hoods in the world and has been making them for over 30 years.

one more question.... im making a hood for a common kestrel

any ideas on how big their heads are roughly

Your kestrels are larger than ours here, sorry perhaps another hood maker from Europe can help?

I actually think its the other way around. wikipedia says common kestrels can reach a wingspan of 80 cm when here they are 60ish, the females.

I believe the European common kestrels are bigger than our North American kestrels

ohhhh thats true. i thought you were a brit talking about the CKs you have in britain compared to ours.
