Just sitting here drinking me morning brew, getting ready to go to school and put up the year 11 art exhibition, and I am thinking.......'well its obvious what they have learn't this year, its there on the wall'.

But I wonder what I have learnt this year? If the harris is an easy hawk, perhaps nothing. So I thought why not make a list............

Make a mews from scratch
Discover the different nutritional values of hawk food
Learn about pressure points and bumblefoot
The application of first aid in the field
How to approach landowners and be ganted permission
Hooding
Making furniture
The law and what DEFRA is
Watching the changes in how an animal learns
Dispatch
Paunching various game
How to cure feather mite
What the hell feather mite is!
Transportation of a hawk
Casting and Imping and Coping (thats 3 different things :lol: )
What Moorhen and Squirrel tastes like
Finding a lost hawk
Motivating a hawk through the use of kills
Lure work
What being bitten by a squirrel feels like
How rabbits are very fast indeed
How to use ferrets
Commitment to an animal

loads of stuff you have missed lol, such as...telling strangers all about falconry and BOP without the urge to tell them to p*ss off. But i think he most important thing is confidence, i have to admit when i first changed jesses etc at the course i was quite nervous about being mantled, but soon got over it. Handling a 'wild' bird also takes confidence.

the amount of times you have to put people straight who approach you and say is that a kestral and don't you need a licence or some thing for that bird :evil:

Thanks Blackbird........give us a few years and I'll do a list on that as well M8........I might even scan in some of the hair that I shall be pulling out frequently as well. lol lol
