hi all some basic questions regarding lures for my FHH.

i have just purchased a dummy bunny and a winged lure from Martin jones.

What do i do now?

how do i attach real wings to my winged lure, and how do i introduce the thing to my hawk?

where does the meat come into it?

when in the field when do i use them? how do i use them?

any help would be great!

Thanks all.

As for the dummy bunny, garnish with a tidbit and place it next to her bow, she may be a bit nervous of it initially or she may just nail it and take the food, this is where you need to trade off as you may find she will not want to give it up, take your time and let her relax her grip, cover the dummy with your bag and offer a small tidbit on the glove just out of reach, once you are doing this confidently you will have to hide the dummy or she will want to nail it instantly, once hidden start to pull it and she will give chase, you can use this in the field at the end of a session if she hasn't caught, (I always garnish with a full chick)
or should she go walk about it can be used as a means to retrieve her

thanks for the reply, as for the dummy bunny, my bird is used to having ago at a draged pheasant / rabbit / hare ect. she will definatley nail the lure if i place it next to her on the bow.

she is taking interest in game in the field and has had a very near miss.

im going to take her out in a while and if we dont get anything then am i right in thinking if i place the dummy bunny in cover with her food on it and then drag it out as im returning home, she can hit it and at least get a reward of food?

im going to see my mentor on monday so im sure ill get things worked out.

thanks again.

Always do as your mentor says that way if yoy do as you are told and it doesn't work out you can go back and ask why!
