I sort of got the impression with some people they hunt there falcons through the summer and put them up to moult through the winter while they bring there hawks out.i woundered whether there was a reason for this or was it just personal choice.i my self prefer to hunt my birds through the winter and put them up for moult in the summer KEV.

Personal choise or time lol. I have longer hours to in the summer to keep my hawk happier, but I will stil fly during the winter - just means He'll have to get used to flying 4 in the afftenoon!
I do displays to, and as I will have 2 birds, 1 to fly during summer and one during winter, one moults, 1 fly's. Means each bird gets the maximum amount of my time that I can put in - even though I own 2 birds. and (he he!) I can fly one for displays and hunt one during summer, then spend all my time with 1 during winter hunting.
I'll be flying the Saker and gyr/prarie during summer, then Gyr/saker during winter. That suits me lol!

It may be wise to get the bird moulted out early planning ahead for the spring rooks, this will encourage her more if she has less misses per kill.
For example say you take 30 to 60 rooks in the first season and half a dozen to a dozen gulls. If you put the bird down early and have her ready with about 10 days hard lure flying, by about this time of year or earlier, you will be able to go out and find very young rooks to hunt, building confidence and fitness and a little weight, you will be able to have a good season starting early on the gulls. I'm sure after a season of finding rook slips every day you will want to change your quarry to gulls. Better to get her going strong on baby rooks as she will think she is unstapable and will ring up after those gulls well. It usually takes 4 - 5 months maybe longer depending on your technique to moult out, but aim for those rooks that were flapping about a few weeks ago not even knowing how to fly.
