Hi,
a friend of mine just hade to give his fine tracker system back because the transmitter is not legal. By european law only transmitters that are EC proven are allowed to be used, but there are no transmitters that have this standard. That basicly means that all our transmitters are illegal. Has any body heard about that befor? If it is realy like that, the falconers from all EC countries should protest against this laws, coz they prevent us from flying our birds legaly.

Few transmitters pass the tests here, and are hence illegal, but many falconers ignore this.

I think we should protest against that and stop ignoring it. I do not know how it is in the UK but in germany you get 50,000 euros (about 30,000 pounds) penelty for using a transmitter without CE certificat. To avoid that be should make them change that. Please no not ignore this topic. In germany the falconers ignored topics like that for to long and know falconry in germany is about to die. I know you can say, "Well I will just fly my bird with transmitter nobody is going to find out anyway", but one day certian people are going to find out and they will use it against us. If anybody knows more details about the national laws (spain, uk etc.) could you please tell me as each country has to make its own laws about the european guidlines.

Does anybody know where I can find the laws made by the British government considering the Radio Telecommunications Equipment
& Annex?

Thx Moritz

I don't think that can be correct. I use Biotrack equipment which is a UK company and the biggest in Europe. If their transmitters were illegal, they would be out of business. http://www.biotrack.co.uk

I always thought that the legal frequency within the UK for use with telemetry was 173 MHz. (not sure about abroad though).

I think the legal telemetry frequency for Germany is in the 400mhz range. I'm sure I read it somewhere but maybe wrong.

I know the frequenze for germany, that was not what I asked. It seams that nobody in this forum realy knows what I am talking about.

The EC guidline states that all transmitters used for telemetry need an output regulator to be acsepted in the EC and gain the security standard CE, but there are is no singal falconry or wildlife transmitter that is CE proved what means even if you have got the right frequenze your transmitter is illegal. By law everyone of use breaks the law, even the scientist that use it for research. This law makes us all to criminals. AS I said above my friend got his system taken away, he hade the right frequenze. Know he is trying to get an exeption for falconry from this law. He is going to talk to some people in the EC gov about that. For that he needs information, especialy from the UK as you are the biggest falconry country in europe. So it would be good if you could help us as it is important for you as well.

Moritz is it the 400 mhz range for Germany ? There are German made systems available - are these illegal as well.

You asked a question regarding CE approval, if we don't know the frequency requirements - how do we know which manufacturer makes a suitable system ?

It is important that the trensmitter has got the CE. As far as I know no company has build an transmitter that has a regulator for output, there is not enough mony to develop it. Basicly there is no system that can be used in germany, as nobody builds transmitters with CE. I have written an e-mail to biotrack but they have not answered jet.
The frequency for germany is 433 Mhz and 155Mhz or something like that.

The transmitter my friend hade to give away was a leagel german frequency.

hello

In as far as I know, Dutch Radio Engineering has a product line with this CE thing.

They are also able to produce any wavelength and transmitter types I heard.

http://www.dutchradioengineering.nl/

It's not mentionned on their site yet, you have to contact them.
