What are other peoples experience of the moult cycle for hybrids? Do some hybrids result in unusual moulting cycles?

I ask as my male gyr/saker only half moulted in his first year and didn't get his full adult plumage until he did a 'normal' moult in his second year which he completed in rapid time by August. He is now going through his third moult and has only dropped one primary and one tail feather since being put up to moult in Feb. Now I'm wondering if he is going to only partially moult again this year.

I have found the first year does not always complete but thereafter it is more or less OK.

Hi Eddie,
One of my 1st posts was regarding this subject....the info is here some where?
I have always experienced regular and complete moults with "pure" bred BOP's, however the Perlins i have flown can be inconsistent.
Even when altering the photo period artificially, or using Thyroid derivatives it does not work as consistently as on pure hawks, or falcons.
Pete.

How's he moulted out, on the block - free lofted etc.

Thanks for the replies chaps!

In general I have heard that particularly gyr hybrids can be erratic with their moults and it certainly would seam so.

Outflying - My male gyr/saker is presently free lofted as he was for both his previous moults. He is fat and fed well but he is a little more 'edgy' in the mews than he has been during previous moults.
