here is a pick i just took on the tiercel, before anyone comments about the wet patch around thge gape, i wet around the gape when fitting the hood this will soften the edge and then whn placed on the bird will mould to the bird head once it dry's

Ian,, don't wet the beak so much it likely will stain and you will have this ring around the opening,,

Ian I do like your hoods very much as you know but im never keen on the cut of the leather where ive indicated:oops: Im not a hoodmaker but it just doesnt seem to be quite right. I understand what you mean about wetting before its final shape is set but this looks like theres just too much leather over hanging the corner of the beak?? Id like to know your thoughts and for the record this isnt a row lol

This is Hoagys hood and it sits much further back off the beak

Here we go again.................
I agree they dont fit the way I like so I wouldnt buy one. But others on here have different opinions as to fit and they like them. Pointing out the things you dont like will only result in Ian not posting anything anymore and I do enjoy looking at them.

kat this is a debate that goes round and around ,i myself ,ken hooke ,rollins ect and many more go for the same gape .as long as the hood is a hood fit there should be no rubbing on the soft tissue .

Always do this myself Ian is a bit more clinical than me as I normally spit on mine and work into the leather with my lips> I then leave on the bird to dry and mold to the individual bird. Good tip Ian!
