Times are hard, what with the credit crunch!!!!!!!!
I am a time served carpenter & joiner thats spent alot of time on high class work, eg bespoke joinery and alot of oak work, i dont do house bashing its knocking the quality out of the trade. I have worked in the building trade all my life and i can do most aspects of the trade, plastering, brick laying, basic plumbing and of course carpentry.
I will do anything at the minute, i am now feed up of looking for work and have even applied for warehouse work and when they ask what i have done in the past its all over. If anyone local Cheshire area is looking to have any work done please think of me cheers.

It's terrible isn't it.:(

I sincerely wish you the best.
I'd like to think it will be those who offer 'quality' that will survive these hard times, but fear it might be those who offer 'cheap'!!

Thanks Rene, i do good work that wont break the bank and i dont charge what others do, i cant see the point in overcharging then not getting any more work, i have a set day rate or will work on a price. So weather you have some flooring you want fitting or a conservatory built let me know and i will quote you happy:):)

Well, you are very good...that's for sure!!!

I've had so many come my way (my house is a renovation project:roll:) who haven't given a flying whatsit for quality. It's a pleasure to see someone who does!!

I don't see why we can't be a complete world within cyberspace really.
It would be useful if there were a section where people could calrify what trade/skill they're able to offer and the location within which they offer it.
Then we could make a stab at looking after our own in these hard times!!:goodman:

Hubby is in a similar trade to yourself. A suggestion I would make is contact the council that deals with your and surrounding areas and offer your services to them, or find out which large company carries out all their work and approach them. The councils ahve an obligation to continue the upkeep on properties they own and there is a pretty regular supply of work required at those properties. Most of which consists of door and window replacements, kitchen and bathroom replacements plastering tiling fencing ground works etc.

Most of the work is subbied out to people like yourself so the companies dont have to have regular men on their books paying holiday and sick pay to them.

Good luck in your search I understand fully how times are hard.

We nolonger have a council housing, they sold out, the new company is only interested in school leavers that will multi train for peanuts, they wont look at anyone already skilled as they have to pay the going rate. Already tried everthing else i can think off, job centre search show nothing, no one is building and not alot of people want to spend any money at all, cant blame them

Thanks for your advice mate, but i have been down that road with traveling boxes, take alook at my thread, caused to much trouble stepping on peoples toes mate.
I would be more suited to constructing mews, kennels and ferret hutches ect. I would offer a full design and construction service to include drainage, concrete base and the building.

If anyone wants any work done please ask. Here's one for you to think about, your mews walls, what if you never had to change your sheeting in your mews again!!!!! I can ply line your mews and tank it in a polyester flow coat, this is a plastic system that will never need changing again:supz:
all you will have to do is jet wash it down, nice and clean, nice and easy, this will carry a 25 year grantee, there are no joins or seams at all, pm for details, i will travel if needed please ask thanks Steve
