Can anyone tell me an easy way to distinguish the difference between M & F Red-Leg partidge please..?

Not easy, but the males are more colorful with bigger side patches. Hate them as they always try to run before flying!! Stick to good English stock and give these back to the French!!

Females are lighter in weight and smaller, but main way to tell is the males have a flat top to the head - female is rounder headed.

Thanks guys, I think I'll try breeding off the 2 pairs of English I have, Still can't tell whether the couple of red-legs I have are a M & F..! They both look the same, so I guess not.

You probably won't be able to sex them till the spurs on the legs develop. if there are no spurs on legs then most likely a female. If only one leg is spurred most likely female. if both legs spurredthen its how thick they are at the base male have stouter spurs. The feathers on the head will be much blacker in a cock bird coming of age.
