Hello everyone,
I accompanied my kiddies on a school outing to an animal park. the day started out ok but went straigh down hill as soon as we saw the birds  of course as soon as i go to any animal/bird park the strigiformes are always the first department. the aviaries for most were just four steel posts and a huge net over them (that is it). for the rest there was the twisted mesh (the ones that arent welded together - dont know what it is called) Here comes the worst bit. I saw the vultures first and went over. I recognised the griffon vulture which was absolutely stunning then i noticed other vultures in the same aviary. i had never seen them and went to check the info boards. I FELL ON MY ARSE   i quite rightly saw the griffon vulture, the other vultures were (cant remember the english name for them now - vautour moine if anyone knows what that is and....................... wait for it........
A EUROPEAN EAGLE OWL in the same bloody pen. I checked twice cos i thought they made a mistake or perhaps the EEo's were in there before hand but just forgot to remove the plaque. but no there was one in there.
Fuming, i darted over to the first guy who worked there to sort this matter out. during my search i ended up infront of another aviary. it was the great grey, a very young one. I went over to look and noticed it was wired on all sides. the aviary next to him was one containing two owls
one was a snowy owl and the other a european eagle owl    there was only a mere wire fence seperating these two from the young great grey. the snowing was pacing and darting towards the GG pen and never seemed to settle. it broke my heart :( :( it wont be long until she ends up hurting herself on that wire. I found only one guy and then had the cheek to say he doesnt deal with the birds, not his department. I only wanted to get more info on how they found these pens suitable but no one would help me out.
