Both male and female gabars have the same plumage, you're thinking of the melanistic form, which look stunning! I used to have a gabar, nice little bird, but might as well have a spar as far as hunting goes.

haha brian i do agree ones hard enuff , 4 will be very bad on the ears and the nagging ****, they seem so good at nagging at lil silly things and cause the 3rd world war over it :D

Hi guys the bird in the pic is actually a lizzard buzzard which is not a great hawk for falconry. Their beginners birds in Zimbabwe and you'll struggle to catch anything with one. I flew one to get started and later flew 2 Gabar goshawks which are awesome birds that are very aggressive and persistent hunters.
