I know that I can only handle flying at the most two birds at a time six days a week.

I was just wondering what others do.

I always give my hawk a feed up on Saturday and don't fly Sunday. I guess there is no reason for it, its just what I do.

pools are up now.

Cheers,

Depends how much time you have available. I fly birds for a living, but if it was a hobby, I wouldnt attempt to fly more than one bird at a time.

I intend flying 2 or possibly 3 Falcons next season at Crows, They will get 1 flight each a day, so 2 or 3 will give me a good days Crow hawking.

This is what I have heard also.

I would only ever try one hawk at a time!

i would only fly 1 myself put all your time and effort into 1 bird and you will get the best out off that bird. i reckon if you fly 2 you will have only good bird if only flying 1 then you get the best

but everyone to there own

Yeah,

To properly man a passage hawk takes at least two hours a day of manning (the more the better). But to maintain the tameness manning must be continued through out the hunting time.

I put as many as I can properly train and fly. because it is just relative to what bird you fly and how much time you have. there is a big difference from flying say 1 gos or 5 HHs

This may be true for Harris hawks, but if you have a passage accipiter and spend your hole time with it, manning and training it then it will be a much better hawk because of it, as long as you don't make some big mistakes. ;)

I spent 6 hours a day with a passage gabar goshawk during the whole training and manning time, it became as well mannered as an imprint barn owl, but was still an extremely good killing machine. I had to cut the time I spent with it down to only 3 hours when I started training a passage lanner. I very soon saw a difference in the hawks manners. i will never make that mistake again.

Stephen

I usually can only manage 1 good flying bird at a time. The only time I've been able to have 2 really great birds at the same time was with 2 passage jacks. If I'm flying a shortwing then for sure the one is all I can handle. The past 3 seasons I've been flying a large falcon and I've also trapped and flown a jack each year. While I have been sucessful at training them and catching some game I wouldn't say that I had brought them to field excellence, at least not by my standards. I get so caught up in making my large falcon sucessful that I don't go the extra mile for the merlins. I think I could do it if I flew the merlin first and then flew the barbary second. It's a discipline thing.

My best to you.

depends on what type od Bop you fly (eg gos,HH falcons???), what ground you have and naturally what time you have.
With endless land on your doorstep, laden with game, a half decent dog,no job......is a little different to what most of us actually have.

I agree totaly.
If you have nothing else to do the whole day it may work with 2 birds. But it depends on the quarry and how much chances you can get for each bird.
Normally I´m sure that only one bird can be flown properly. Each bird more would fall of in quality.
