Just thought I would show you this product that we do, as it's that time of year again when we moult our birds.

Last year we moulted 2 birds together, 1 on vitamins and chicks only, the other on quail, rats etc with no vitamins, the 1 on vitamins moulted about 5 weeks earlier. The feathers are absolutely beautiful and very strong.

FALCON M

Moult and Growing

FALCON M is a new formulation, very rich in amino acids, designed to improve the feathers moulting of raptors.
It can be used as daily nutritional supplement during the moult of numerous species of raptors. It also contains all the essential vitamins and minerals Falcons and Hawks need to maintain health during the stressful time of moulting.
FALCON M has also been used with success as a co adjuvant in the treatment of skin diseases and of problems with feathers.
Alpha-alpha and Fenugreek extracts (herbs able to increase body growth and stimulate appetite) plus Carnitine make FALCON M an ideal product for chicks growing of many species of raptor. The content of Fructoligosaccarids in FALCON M formulation allows maintaining healthy the populations of beneficial intestinal flora such as Lactobacillus spp. and Bifidus spp. Reducing potential invasion from opportunistic pathogens such as E. coli and Candida albicans.

SUGGESTED DAILY DOSE: put inside the food (eviscerated prey) half measuring spoon (1 gram) of the product per kilogram of body weight during the moulting time or chicks growing.

PACKAGE: 100gr.

I don't think one can draw any real conclusions from just a sample of two birds.

I have a 12 Gyrs in one of my my moulting pen, one has just come in a week ago from being hunted all the time and is now dropping feather to such an extent that it having a job flying. No added vitamins just live quail like the rest.

And also - there are quail and then there are quail..... the quail you breed will make a bird drop all its feathers at once! Some of them look like young pheasants.:supz:

The two birds are my own birds, the vits have been tried and tested by many falconers, have a look on earlier posts where we have stated which falconers in which countries are currently using them with success.

Obviously not everybody likes to use vitamins but prefer a varied diet through the moult, we say each to their own but these vitamins are available for people if they wish to use them.:D

All the best

I have no idea what it gains chemically wise I just know I have tried it with many species and it has always work. If I can I get English Clover Honey from a heath food shop and smear 1/4 teaspoon a day on the food. At first they don't seem to like it but quickly look for it and make the same beak movements as when they get chick yolk. After about 14 days the feathers start to drop and after about six weeks you normally have to stop putting it on to slow the moult down as I said the birds start to look oven ready!

And not havin a go Griff but why speed up the process then slow it down:confused:why not just let the birds do it at there own pace..and what is to be gained due to the close season.
