There will be a selection of Andrew Ellis prints available at the AGM- most mounted or framed, so ready to hang on the wall straight away!

They will be on the gamehawker stand.

Big thank-you to Carl for offering to take them along.

had a good day out with the members of the irish hawking club yesterday in slane, met up with carl and collected my new gamehawker transport box and saved on the postage to ireland, that makes all the difference. the box was a quality product, workmanship was first class and should last me out for the duration.
the talk given by d ick bartlet on grouse management was very interesting including his display on remote signaling when his predator traps had been sprung, enabling the keeper to set more traps and just visit the ones that had been successfull when the trap sent back a signal to the reciever.

jo oliver presented her guidelines for the 2009 falconry festival where the irish hawking club will be represented including a slideshow of the 2008 festival.

hillary whites presentation of falcory in south africa also went down well with some smashing images of hawks and falcons being flown and the stunning scenery.
met up with some new faces, blasket, malcolm edgar (thanks for the eggs) edenjohnny and neil ross to mention a few.

the raffle held a wide variety of prizes donated by sponsors and committee members i was pleased to walk off with a print of a selection of south african accipiter foot sizes, i was surprised this was not one of the first to get snapped up, as well as a bottle of wine for the wife which caused a cheer when i walked through the door when i got home .
last but not least was a presentation to mr roland eustace who was awarded with a crystal trophy for his lifetime achievement to the falconry and the irish hawking club, roland sat while his apprentices of the past paid tribute to his dedication to falconry and thanked him for the knowledge he passed on to them in their early days of the sport , he compared falconry with his other passion bee keeping and stated that both were alike and the the falconer and bee keeper had to be patient in order to get results.
the round trip to meath was worth it, we set off at 5.30am from county waterford and arrived home around 10pm.
thanks to carl , andrew ellis and ben long for their presentations of falconry related material and the speakers involved, without them it would have not been worth the effort, not to mention the members and non members who attended.
regards
keith

Brilliant day , i thought , gave a good insight into the new structuring of the club , great turnout it seems compared to their last AGM . Roland Eustace ........what a guy , an absolute hoot and a great old geezer, and his comb-honey was gorgeous .
met a few of the members , didn't mingle enough to meet and make new aquaintances , saw some guys who we thought we recognised . ciaran recognised keith who parked his wee white van just as we drove into car park ....but such a legend he was too shy to approach him .
All in all a great day and brilliant presentations ....although if i'd one critism it would have been the moorland section ,,,,,,not that relevant to me nor anyone else I'd spoken to . perhaps it would have been more relevant to landowners or a shooting syndicate who actually had moorland ,however the falconry Festival presentation more than made up for it, that girl Jo was absolutely brilliant she was articulate, and informative.woohoo I hope to be going.
