View Full Version : Possible A.I course for 09 season

Due to the large number of enquiries we receive for information on breeding, we are considering holding an A.I course.
This would be for one day in mid April, if the level of interest was great enough we may extend to 2 days but no more as we will be far too busy from then on.
The course would cover all aspects of breeding falcons from Artificial insemination, from the imprinting and management of falcons as future breeders, to advanced incubation techniques.
We would restrict the number of persons each day to 10, this way we could ensure everyone had the same level of tuition.
Let us know what you think, and we will endeavor to construct a curriculum that will advance your knowledge.

The cost of the course would be £100 per person for the day, running from 10am to 5pm with a break for lunch. We would provide the lunch and also a document with everything covered on the course for your reference, the day would be very intense due to the amount of information to be covered.
The date would have to be the weekend 18th 19th April, by this time everything would be in full swing and the 1st chicks would be hatching.

Of course Ben, the course won't fall through. If we don't take a deposit and people let us down on the day, there could well be others that could have replaced them.

Hi Justin, I have often thought of producing a DVD on A.I., I will be doing a fair amount of filming this season in HDV. We will see how things work out and how much good footage I get, difficult to film when you are at both ends.
I think it would have to a be couple of DVD’s to cover it all, can only get about 80 mins on a disc at best quality.

Hi Ben, not a problem on the camcorders. I have never bred accipiters from AI, will be trying this season but! by far the bulk of what will deal with will be applicable to accipiters.

Hi Dave, we have 8 people down for April 18th, a good number of others that have not come forward with deposits. We will take 2 more for that day but no more.
If by chance we have 4 or 5 more come forward, I will split the number over the 18th and 19th.

Our Saturday the 18th of April A.I. course was fully booked up to the 10 people max limit, unfortunately one person has had to pull out due to unforeseen circumstances. So if any one would like to join us on Saturday for the course, there is one place available.

Sara you can take as much as you can carry as long as it’s peregrine, not enough gyr to spare I'm afraid, 4 female gyrs and a 3/4 all taking shots daily takes its toll on supplies.
That’s taking it that you were talking about falcon semen
If not we should continue this conversation by PM.
