expect to pay £200-£300 for the pair if they are proven, i would think just look for the obvious, ask about diet. who are you having them off?

Maybe a good question to ask is if they are a proven breeding pair why are they being sold and why would you want a pair? IF they are paired and settled would you want to move them and stress them?? Bengals are good birds tho for demo and GDN has posted that his hunts, have seen it chase a blackie and off the fist he was RAPID wouldnt have believed it had i not seen it!

I was going to post after the initial post by MyHopper to ask if the "proven" 1 year old male bred this year after turning just turning 1. I didn't think owls could breed at this age, but could be wrong.
I would check any ring for the year of ringing or check with the person who bred the male.
If they did breed this year he should be able to prove it is indeed proven as the young will have fairly recently been sold.
Just watch it aint mum and son!
Usually the bengals will only start to breed after his first year, in captivity (and 2-3 years of age in the wild just incase any one wants to know). Why are they being sold in the first place is what I personally would be interested in before purchasing.
mickey i still think your avee is fantastic

SPOKE TO THE GUY JUST NOW, HE IS SELLING AS HE WANTS TO GET A EUROPEAN PAIR, MALE IS 1YR OLD BUT NOT 2YRS OLD (IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN-I.E. 1YR 8 MONTH ETC)
THE PAIR IS PROVEN ACCORDING TO HIM, AND HE SAID HE WOULD TAKE £200 FOR THE PAIR.

Right so he is a late clutch 2003 bird.
Did he tell you what happened to the young they hatched?
Is he a well-known breeder of owls or is he bored with the bengals so moving to something else, will he move on to Snowys next year?!!
These are the questions I would ask.
Can I ask why do you want a breeding pair of bengals, if its for the money its a waste of time - you wont make any. If its for the pleasure or personal education aspect then bear in mind you will have to find homes for at least one clutch per season.
Good luck, whatever.
Bubo  stop it or I'll change it
my hopper, if you dont mind me being nosy, what are your reasons for wanting an owl?
mickey
