The shaheen belongs to a friend. He's the one flying the bird in the video. The bird was never cut and dried to have only one specific skill set, but rather he was cultivated to be multi-purpose because the falconer wanted to explore the bird's versatility. He takes a wide range of quarry in a wide range of scenarios.
I don't think lure-flying a bird for fitness necessarily has a negative affect on a bird's pitch, though lure-flying for fitness surely has to be used in conjunction with a good pitch-training program.

yep ive been thereabouts a lot when i go to BATUS (we usually stop off for a coffee!)
interesting in regards to the bird and its pitch,i suspect that your greatly aided by the vast expanses you fly in and once it gets into the routine (which ive found peres like to work) then it could well have no detrimental effects although ive seen lure work keep a falcon tighter and therefore lower in the ground i use
i have to say i would seriously love to get a bird up over the praire areas of BATUS theres simply nowhere for them to go but up !

What sort of quarry??

What sort of quarry??
Ducks of all sizes, shorebirds, gamebirds, corvids, swallows, larks, etc. The list is a long one. The bird was flown for quite some time at an air force base for bird abatement, where any bird was fair game if it became a threat to human safety.

I just came across a nice new clip on YouTube some might enjoy. They're Kenny Sterner's black gyrXpeale's tiercels flown in a cast at sage grouse. Just a warning that there's a hint of profanity. Great watch.

Some of the best choreographed filming of game hawking I have yet to see,...very impressive.
I have seen high level cast flying before in person (female gyr/barbary, male white gyr/peregrine: Jon Hitchmough) Killed two mallards in one spectacular flight.
These Sterner hybrid flights are up there!!
Gotta love those Gyr/peales

SteveNice find Steve lovely looking hybrids when someone over here produces something of the size and colour of those I could be tempted to have a break from my peregrines and give one a go.I didn't see the part the second hawk played in the flight or did i miss it?One of the guy's looks and sounds like Tony Houston?

Sure are, Ben. They are hulks. Tim Jessell brought his Sterner hybrid "Spike" up here one year. He is very large and black just like the cast birds. I believe Spike is a full brother to those two.
Here's Tim with Spike and an Alberta sharptail. It was a great flight.
