Hi there!

Maybe this is some other solution for you:

http://www.falknereizubehoer-brings.de/shopeuro/index.html?d_L1_Langfessel_aus_Leder649.htm

and then "frettchentaschen". Some very practical solution

Bags are not a good idea Johnny. One slip and you have a crushed ferret. I wouldn't either bother making a box try

http://www.field-sports.co.uk/

You would struggle to make one at that price.

there was a guy at the falconry fair a few years ago with a bag...bit like an over grown bum bag that went over like a shoulder bag and sat in front if you, it would hold upto 2 ferrets ok and because of its positioning would prevent crushing cos you put your hands out automaticaly.... also jiff at the fair this year told me how he used to put them into a money bag and tuck them into a large pocket...simple and effective

i'll try and find out more onfo o that bag as well

Martin Underwood makes some very good ferret boxes. He has got a new catalog. His adresse is here somewhere on the forum. From after the Scone fair in scotland, some one will sell Mr Underwoods gear at a center where it is possible to be picked up, there fore less cost and you can have a look at the gear befor you buy it.

hi all why not use some drain pipe you can get the end stops for them glue the one end on using no more nails then bend a small hinge slightly then attach using some small bolts for the strap drill a line of small holes then file the line out do two of these then thread a strap or some lease and tie it there you have one very light ferret carrie tube

HawkMan
24-06-2005, 07:04 PM
what do you put in the base of the pipe m8 ?
I was talking to me m8 and he said he knew someone who said that ?
What size pipe do you use m8 ?
Thanks
Johnny

about 4 inch pipe does the trick johnny ,you can get the end fitting from where you buy the pipe any builder yard

this is a good idea, especially when ferreting on a hillside! No need to carry the pipe, just role it down the hill!!

I reckon if i glue wood to the sides this would not happen ,i may even paint it yellow so i dont lose it .
Ian as i know rightly your box strap is made out of an old car seat ,pmsl with cheap foam taped at the top of it ,and you call me a gypo ,lol

Ahhh Johnny, much to learn you still have. Weak in you the force is.

Buy the way folks, my box was from Pakefields ferrets. You know the ones. The green ones that thousands of you use. The 'old car seat', is a piece of seat belt for the strap. To make it more comfortable, I put some pipe insulation over it and taped it up. I carry it all day, no bother. Great.

Ahhhhh Johnny, simple I see you are. To be a Jedi takes many years. Taking the **** out of other peoples equipment makes them stop giving you their knowledge, no knowledge leads to continuing to do things the way you do, continuing to the do the things YOU do when hunting leads to NO kills, no kills leads to fear, fear leads to the dark side.

Geee.. just come back from hay making an silage etc. and read this post!!!
None of you ever go to B&Q or the like!! They sell ideal ferret boxes for about £5 to £10 They call them tool boxes, like Stanley etc. they are light weight, good seats an for standing on climbing fences. All you have to do is drill a few air holes, add a bit of webbing as a shoulder strap if you want, then stick some straw in the bottom!! All finished in about 15 minutes!!!

PS Any one in wales want a hobs. One of the best working ferrets, produced about 12 young, an I now have to find good homes for about 6 cute an cuddly hobs, Albino.

Think you got the wrong idea.. Tool boxes are strong plastic, light weight, and lotsa sizes, so for 1 or up to 6 ferrets!!! also have handy little boxes built into lid on some, keep a drop of water and a spare ferret collar and batts. in mine.
Never seen a home built one that looked better or was easier to carry either!!
