Anyone have a clue how to calibrate these scales properly, absolutely stumped now, only accurate reading i get now is to have the datum set at 2oz to get the correct weight? All advice appreciated.

They are OF, just converted to a perch. Counterbalance appears to be working correctly without any hindrance, and the zero is set, its just the actual reading thats out. Someone has placed extra lead under the pan, although removing or adding only serves to push the zero up or down but they did read accurately previously, so is there a way I can alter the balance (I'm loathe to bin them since they've been so good before)

Finnish, I would post a photo, but my camera phone is pants, just imagine you're a wee boy back in the sweetie shop.....

If you have set the balance (zero) correctly with subsitute weight - I take it you put a perch or some thing similar on it. Then I will find out tomorrow for you the adjustment setting which is internal, they use a metal leaf spring and I haven't set one up before but it won't be difficult. Will post again tomorrow, if I forget remind me............

if they are fan scales its a spring with a small leaf piece of metal in the spring which u turn to adjust the weight if memory serves me rite n its the right scale n they were ******s to calibrate n get accurate!! u could calibrate it with a 2lb weight n it will b out either above or below!! its just time n more time!lol make sure its accurate all the way thru.

make sure the scales are level, it maybe to old to calibrate to any degree of accuracy, springs stretch, metal bends etc.

I made enquires this morning and there are 2 types of adjustment depending on which model of scale it is, one uses a cam and the other is a screw adjustment. What is the model number ?

Check the limit stops are not catching the pointer, is the zero correctly set ?

SLO3 is the model number OF, it would appear to be the screw type as there is no cam that i can see.

I think there should be 2 screws, one to adjust the zero (this is done on the post) and the other one does the span. But now I know the model number I will ask again tomorrow.
