hi mtr46, i picked my bird up at sixteen weeks, she was my first ever bird of prey, i spent just over a year in preperation and thought i had all the bases covered, but the one thing that books, vids, other peoples perfectly manned birds and courses with manned birds cannot prepare you for is the arrival of you're own bird straight from the avery, take the first few day's slowly and carefully, gentle manning from the minute you get home but bare in mind the bird will have just been plucked from the safety of it's fammily group, so gently does it, don't be put out if it don't go by the book, but once the innitial introduction is over and you're bird settles down you'll be supprised how quickly things go, don't try and stick to a strict regime, and expect you're bird to be at a certain point in training at a perticular time frame, they're all different mate, just watch for the changes in attitude and behaviour,if there's one bit of advice i put above every thing else is "try and relax and enjoy the first couple of weeks" i was so stressed,my bird was a complete bitch, and still is at times, people will tell you that they can be in the field in 10 day's and wot not, just let it all go over you're head and take it one step at a time mate,
best wishes with you're new bird and enjoy mate.

THANKS FOR YOUR ADVICE BREEDER RECOMENDED PICK UP AT 16 WKS AND LEAVE ALONE IN AVERY FOR 1 MONTH BEFOR ANY MANNING IAM COUNTING THE DAYS FOR ARIVAL. WOULD YOU RECOMEND LEAVING LONGER WITH PARENTS TO POSSIBLY REDUCE THE RISK OF HIM SCREAMING

Not too sure about leaving him for a month? What does the instructor on your course say MTR46?

One Top guy said to me get the bird out the box and get him straight on the glove for a few minutes id try and get the manning over asap ,would you like to be shoved in a cage youve never seen before waiting for some **** to come in and grip hold of you, or an the first day get to know them and know they aint a threat ,
Just my opinion m8
All the best anyway
The lads will al help you out on here so just fire them questions at them thats all i did
